Things are pretty mellow around here. Hubby got stung by something Thursday while we were trimming and cleaning out the palm tress. He survived the first 24 hours without any problems and decided to go to the doctor on Saturday because his ankle was starting to look like a telephone pole - no pain though, thank goodness. He is on meds and ices his ankles when he can. Today his ankle looked darn near normal size.
Girls are busying with school and friends. Haley still hasn't decided what to be for Halloween. She's thinking that the "Candy Passer-Outter" job would be alot more fun. Is my baby growing up??? I told her we could get some cobwebs and other creepy things and decorate the front porch is she wants to be the "Candy Passer-Outter".
Weather here in Ellenton, Florida is still in the high 80's and low 90's. Not much rain and no hurricanes (knock on wood!).
I have to say (again!) no news is good news!

Well my little darlings made it through the first week of school and so did I. I have started back at the gym running 2 miles a day. Allyson had her senior picture taken for the yearbook. Her kindergarten picture will always be my favorite ... pigtails and that precious toothless grin !!! Haley survived the first week of 5th grade. Weather was pleasant, mid 90's. As you say, oh geez, mid 90's, thinking I have lost my mind or perhaps it was fried in the heat ... I love warm weather !!! Looking forward to a kick back weekend by the pool and sleeping in, no gym on the weekends.

Things are a bit crazy around here. I am painting the wall under the bar red. We needed a WOW factor in my cafe area. Have you ever painted with red paint before? It is very opague. It looks like someone was murdered on the wall. SCARY! It will take 4 coats of red paint for sure, then touch up the white baseboard that I got red paint on. UGH !!! Haley is rearranging her room- don't ask ! It was Allyson's idea and then Allyson dumped Haley in the middle of the project. Needless to say Haley's room looks like a hurricane hit. Speaking of hurricanes ... all is calm here in Ellenton, Florida. We have been having afternoon summer rain showers- wonderful, we so need the rain ! I guess I better get off my duff, go back to the paint store and finish this wall !!!

What an incredibly gorgeous day !!! As my Daddy said "every day above ground is a good day sweetheart". I think hubby, Haley and I are going to head over to Lido Beach to the Offshore Boat Races. Miss Allyson is working today, she misses out on the all the fun. Ah, such is life to be a teenager. 7 more days and she will be 17 years old. How did that happen??? 17 ??? Hello, I just gave birth to her- my body is still in shock. Is it my "baby" fat or is her "baby" fat from having a bady??? Will we ever know the answer to that question. Could it be that I am 29 again (yes, 29 again)! They say 50 is the new 30, so 49 must be the new 29.

Happy Birthday to my Mommy !!!
June 21
It's the first day of summer and the birthday of 2 of my life long friends Nancy in Salinas and Brenda in Minnesota. Happy birthday Nancy and Brenda. Thoughts in my head??? I am empty of thoughts except for the noise of the jackhammer going in the background. I think the people behind us are having a pool put in. It's been going on for days ! UGH !!!

Our youngest daughter Haley was diagnosed as Type 1 Diabetic on March 20. Type 1 means you are insulin dependent for life !!! She was very sick, we could have lost her, she is on the road to recovery now. She spent 3 days in the hospital , 2 in ICU and was released in the late afternoon of the 3rd day.
On Tuesday, March 18 Haley came home from school with an upset stomach, "tossed her cookies" and laid down. About an hour later we went to check on her and she was out of it. Very tired and didn't feel good, she had a stomach ache. About 2 AM on Wednesday, March 19 she "tossed her cookies" , I told her to get a good night sleep that she was not going to school in the morning. March 19 she was tired, drinking fluids, going to the bathroom and had some jello. She slept all night long. Thursday, March 20 she said her stomache still hurt, not bad, just alittle and we attributed it to having not eaten much and suggested we introduce food slowly- crackers, jello, etc. Thursday evening about 6 pm I called the pediatrican and he said there was a stomach flu going around and all her symptoms sounded like the flu, if she wasn't better by Friday to bring her in. After I got the phone, she "tossed her cookies" and could not walk 15 feet to the couch. She was staggering, talking as though she had run 100 miles and telling me she had no energy.
OFF WE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL !!!
We were checked in to the ER room within 5 minutes. They popped our little girl onto the scale and she had LOST nearly 25 lbs. !!!! Richard (her daddy, my husband) and I looked at each other in amazement. We knew she had grown and was thinning out but had no idea she had lost nearly 25 lbs. They set her up in a room and tried to insert an IV, her veins were collasped- she was dehydrated, her heart rate was 161. The rapid heart rate was why she was talking as though she had run 100 miles. They got the IV in and she was given enough fluids in 12 Click to read more | |
